Morning Conferences
- Inpatient Report
- Resident-prepared, case-based discussions presented three days per week.
- Focus on clinical reasoning.
- Mock Code
- Monthly thirty minute session to practice code scenarios.
- Grand Rounds
- Local & national speakers present pertinent pediatrics topics weekly
- Surgery Conference
- Common surgical topics are presented monthly by CMH Pediatric Surgeons.
Afternoon Conferences
- Professor Rounds
- Case-based presentations for residents and faculty prepared and presented by a senior resident each week.
- Noon Conference
- Faculty presentation on a topic in his/her area of specialty biweekly.
- Journal Club
- Monthly case-based sessions, developed by residents, which work through clinical questions using evidence-based medicine techniques.
- Morbidity and Mortality
- A monthly conference structured to define ways to improve quality of patient care through the analysis of recent cases.
- Chief’s Conference
- Interactive, board review style presentations given by the Chief Residents utilizing a state-of-the-art Audience Response System bimonthly.
- Academic Scholarship Conference
- A unique bimonthly conference covering topics such as quality improvement, advocacy, research, and medical education.
- Core Curriculum Didactics
- A monthly Friday afternoon lecture series developed for each individual resident class that covers general and subspecialty topics.
- Business Meetings
- Housestaff Meeting
- A bi-monthly meeting that facilitates discussion surrounding residency program activities
- Roundtable
- Quarterly informal residency class meeting with the Program Directors to discuss current issues or concerns
- Housestaff Meeting
Additional Educational Sessions
- Continuity Clinic Lecture Series
- 18 month lecture series focusing on well-child care and other outpatient general pediatric topics.
- Johns Hopkins Harriet Lane Continuity Clinic Internet Learning CenterTM
- Interactive ambulatory modules initially created by the John Hopkins Department of Medicine are available online and incorporated into the curriculum.
- Individual Rotation Didactics
- Residents attend specialty-specific lectures and conferences on individual rotations.
