The Section of Neurology strives to improve the lives of children with neurological disorders through the integration of evidence-based clinical care, education and research. Our family centered and interdisciplinary approach is designed to encourage parents and families to make informed decisions while promoting health, optimal function, and quality of life in children with neurological disorders.
The Section of Neurology has 12 physicians who are boarded in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology or in Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Our physicians have special expertise in neurophysiology, neuro-developmental disabilities, and in headaches. Three of our physicians have additional board certification in neurophysiology, and one has additional board certification in neuro-developmental disabilities. We have a child neurology fellowship program and three administrative staff members.
"The Section of Neurology collaboratively developed the annual Missouri Valley Child Neurology Colloquium, an annual regional meeting for child neurologists and developmental pediatricians."
Our inpatient service and outpatient clinics serve the Kansas City area and surrounding communities, with approximately 10,000 appointments annually. We have outpatient clinic locations at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Children’s Mercy Northland, and Children’s Mercy South. We see patients five days per week. The Section of Neurology offers a headache clinic, an intractable epilepsy clinic, and an acute care clinic in addition to our general neurology clinics.
