Research Experience

BRNSTRM

Research Experience

Although not required, residents are encouraged to participate in an academic project during their training. The BRNSTRM Project was designed to help residents build a research foundation. Through the BRNSTRM Project, many of our residents have presented research at national meetings. The department of Graduate Medical Education financially supports residents whose research is accepted for poster or oral presentations.

Welcome to the BRNSTRM Project
Our mission is to Build Resident New Skills Through Research Mentoring.

We have assembled a research mentoring team for residents as they explore careers in pediatric medicine. A core of diverse consultants committed to the growth of the resident researcher, will provide resources for residents to begin development of a portfolio of research experiences. By teaming with a core of researchers who have clinical, quality-based, bench, educational and/or translational research experience, the resident will gain the skills necessary to excel in an academic career.

Experiences that the resident would be able to access would include but not be limited to

  • Develop their CV
  • Write a fellowship based personal statement
  • Develop time management strategies
  • Learn the importance of networking tools
  • Preparing and planning research presentation
  • Write a manuscript
