The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at The Children’s Mercy Hospital (CMH) recognizes that for Physicians, education continues well beyond medical school; it is a lifelong process. CME provides physicians the education they need to maintain their licensure and certification, knowledge they need to continue providing high quality patient care and aims to enhance the physician’s ability to care for patients. CME at CMH includes lectures, conferences, on-line courses, regularly scheduled series, interactive skill-based programs, and enduring materials. Our mission is to support the learner’s needs with high quality competency-based continuing medical education.
The CME program is managed by Teresa Shepherd, RN, MN, MSEd, out of the Department of Medical Education. Ms. Shepherd has been at Children’s Mercy for over 17 years, serving in various roles. She is well supported in her current role as CME Manager by Ravi Kallur, PhD, Vice Chair of Medical Education, Jane Knapp, MD, Chair of Medical Education, and Theodore Barnett, MD, Chairman of the Hospital’s Medical Staff Education Committee (MSEC). The CME program is also supported by Karen Askew, RN, BSN, as the CME Coordinator.
