PHIT Kids


PHIT Kids (Promoting Health in Teens and Kids) is a combination of a multidisciplinary weight management clinic with group behaviorally-based education for obese youth and their parents who are motivated to make long-term, family-based lifestyle changes.



Diagnoses and Conditions

Children and teens ages 2 and older with a body mass index (BMI) greater than the 95th percentile for age and gender; with or without medical or psychosocial complications.

Services

The PHIT Kids Clinic is staffed by a pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, registered dietitian, social worker and physical therapist. Pediatric psychology services are available on an as-needed basis. The evening group classes are staffed by health coaches.

Referral Notes

This intensive program is appropriate for families who are concerned about their child's weight and health and are committed to making changes as a family. Although children ages two and older may be seen in clinic, evening group participants should be nine or older and have no cognitive, psychological or behavioral conditions that could interfere with their participation in group education.
