High-Quality Laboratory Testing

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics provides inpatient, outpatient and outreach laboratory services for Children's Mercy patients and the greater Kansas City community.
The laboratory is staffed with seven full-time pathologists and five PhDs who provide administrative and technical oversight to the laboratory staff. Clinical laboratory staff consists of approximately 130 employees certified in various specialties by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP); National Credentialing Agency (NCA); or the National Registry of Clinical Chemists (NRCC). Non-clinical staff includes information system analysts, laboratory assistants, specimen processors and couriers.
Collaboration among our laboratory directors and testing personnel facilitates integrated, comprehensive test results across specialty areas, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients. We provide ongoing laboratory-to-clinician consultation that facilitates effective test ordering and result interpretation for the clinical circumstances.
We offer a broad test menu which ranges from routine analysis to the more esoteric. Many of these highly specialized tests are unavailable elsewhere in the region. Please refer to the Test Directory under the Test Information menu item on this webpage for a complete and comprehensive list of tests that we provide.
