'Good Morning, Children's Mercy!'
The Lisa Barth Chapel was conceived as “A Place Where All Are Welcome,” and since opening earlier this year patients, families and hospital staff have taken advantage of the beautiful space designed to provide respite, peace and meditation. In this week’s “Good Morning, Children’s Mercy! podcast, Jason talks with Dane Sommer, D. Min., BCC, Director-Chaplaincy Services, and Stacey Koenig, Director-Child Life, Volunteer Services and Family-Centered Services, about how the chapel and gardens already have become ingrained in the hospital environment, and about plans for the future. The chapel and gardens are being used 24/7 by patients, including those requiring support services to visit, and by employees, many of whom have made the chapel a regular part of their day. The hospital also is partnering with The Turning Point Center for Hope and Healing on programs designed to provide “a little bit of normalcy” in the hospital environment.
