Bedside nurses in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) are engaging in activities beyond their normal daily duties in order to improve patient outcomes. One example is a focused effort to reduce Blood Stream Infection (BSI), which any patient is susceptible to whenever they have a central line going to their heart. In this week’s podcast, Jason talks with Shekinah Hensley, an RN in the PICU who is deeply involved in PICU’s use of Quality tools to improve conditions for patients and staff members. Listen to all the creative ways PICU team members are going the extra mile for their patients. (Time: 12 minutes)
