How to dress for success

How to dress for success
You have found a place you are interested in working… set up the interview… prepared…  Now, what do you wear???  Conservative dress is always the safest.  However, you should also do some research on your prospective employer in order to look as though you fit in with the organization. The possibilities of over dressing (which is rare) or under dressing may cause the potential employer to feel that you don't care enough about the job or are not serious.

Do…

  • Dress nicely and appear well groomed.
  • Dress more conservatively than normal.
  • Have a nice, neat hair style.

Don’t…

  • Apply heavy makeup.
  • Wear open-toed shoes.
  • Wear revealing clothing such as low cut or clingy shirts or super short skirts.
  • Have messy hair or hair in your face.

"Improving your appearance alone won’t get you a job offer, but it will help to win
positive attention and respect from the interviewer. It will give you a foot in the
door so that the interviewer can then focus on your talents, skills, and positive attitude." www.womenwork.org/pdfresources/wyi_familyguide.pdf
