Dual Diagnosis / Comorbidity

It is possible to have two separate mental disorders at the same time. It is also possible for children to be misdiagnosed with one disorder when they actually have another. People with a mental disorder may also "self-medicate" or may be more vulnerable to substance abuse.

MedlinePlus Health Topic: Dual Diagnosis

SAMHSA: Co-occuring disorders

Tourette Syndrome "Plus" (with ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, other associated diagnoses)

Co-Occurring Disorders-with Borderline Personality Disorder (NY-Presbyterian Hospital)
