Pediatric Residency Program
Resident Life
We recognize that residency training can be demanding, therefore, our program promotes
a well-balanced personal and professional life for residents. We address the needs of
our residents through a variety of avenues to include structured events, mentorship,
and outside social activities.
Resident Orientation
This is a two week introduction to the hospital community and an opportunity to get to
know your peers through several social events. Residents also complete Pediatric Advanced
Life Support (PALS) course and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
"BIG SIBS"
Incoming residents are paired with a senior resident at the beginning of each year to foster
resident mentorship and support.
Resident Retreats
There is an annual retreat outside of the hospital for each residency class that provides
team building opportunities. There is a focus on personal and professional enrichment through
philanthropy, educational workshops, and social events.
Life Outside of Residency
Yes, it does exist! Our residents pride themselves on being a very social group and have even
developed a social committee to organize activities. Residents and their families plan and attend various
functions, such as a night at the Royals baseball game, Shakespeare in the Park, local live music,
dinner clubs, holiday parties, and philanthropic activities.
