The Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine at Children's Mercy
Hospitals and Clinics, Kansas City, Mo., was established in 2011.
It was the first genome center in the world entirely inside a
children's hospital with a focus on the diagnosis of inherited
pediatric diseases.
Hundreds of children affected by undiagnosed genetic diseases
are referred to Children's Mercy each year. The Center for
Pediatric Genomic Medicine works with patients, families and their
physicians to end the frustration of the diagnostic odyssey, in
some cases discovering novel genetic causes of childhood
diseases.
The Center provides genome, computation and analytic capabilities
that support Children's Mercy cutting edge research programs in
Pediatrics, Neonatology, Hematology/Oncology, Fetal Health,
Pharmacogenetics and Personalized Medicine to improve outcomes for
affected children both at Children's Mercy and around the
world.
