PALS Instructor Course

This course is offered 3 times a year, and lasts one day, 0830-1200.
Only for PALS Providers who have have been nominated by a Course Director based on their performance in a PALS course, plus ability to effectively teach.
All CMH PALS courses take place at the Don Chisholm Building located at 610 E. 22nd St.


  • Overview of the PALS curriculum
  • Teaching the Adult Learner

Teaching & Evaluation Stations

  • Basic Life Support
  • Core Case Simulations

Successful Completion Criteria:
(after all are met, participant will be awarded AHA PALS Instructor affirmation/card, which is valid for 2 years)

  • Performance in BLS Review Station
  • Performance in Teaching Demonstration Station
  • Teaching in a PALS Provider Course within 1 year after the Instructor Course, with positive monitoring/evaluation from a Regional/Training Center Faculty member.

In the CMH PALS Training Center, PALS Instructors are expected to instruct in 2 courses annually, and are monitored at least once every two years by a Regional or Training Center Faculty member. Instructor affirmation is renewed by maintaining current PALS Provider status, plus positive evaluation from the Regional/Training Center Faculty monitor.
