Giving to Children's Mercy Hospitals
and Clinics is a direct way to support the care we provide our
patients. Your gifts help save lives, develop new treatments and
comfort families who turn to Children's Mercy for the best
pediatric care in the region.
Meeting a Growing Need
During the past five years,
Children's Mercy has seen a 21 percent increase in outpatient
visits and a 28 percent increase in emergency and urgent care
visits. The support of our giving community allows us to meet these
increasing needs and expand access to quality care.
Numbers from the past year:
- Outpatient Visits - more than
370,000
- Inpatient Care Admissions - nearly
15,000
- Emergency/Urgent Care Visits - nearly
147,000
- Diagnostic Procedures - more than
69,000
Innovating New Treatments
We continue to expand research
efforts and pursue new treatments in cardiac care, nephrology,
cancer and pediatric genomic medicine. By providing local
access to cutting-edge research and clinical trials, families are
able to stay together and children can lead normal lives without
the interruption of constant travel and extended stays away from
home.
Expanding Care
Generous gifts are also helping us
bring quality care to more children throughout the region. We
continue to expand clinical services at each of our locations.
Recently, we celebrated the opening of Children's Mercy East,
which allows us to serve thousands of children in Eastern Jackson
County.
Expanded services from the past year
include:
- Cardiology
- Ear, Nose and Throat
- Endocrinology
- Gastoenterology
- Hearing and Speech
- Neurology
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Lab Services
- Radiology
