Children’s Mercy West/The Cordell Meeks Jr. Clinic features 18 new clinic rooms, outpatient pharmacy, laboratory and radiology space. The new location will allow Children’s Mercy West/The Cordell Meeks Jr. Clinic to continue to expand as needed in serving the children and families of Wyandotte County. The practice currently sees more than 17,000 patient visits a year.
The primary care clinic, started 30 years ago by Stephen Schaum, MD, and David Porter, MD, provides services in an underserved area of Kansas City, Kansas. In 2000, Michelle Haley, MD, joined the practice and this month Lillian Rojo Blue, MD, joined the practice.
The clinic is named in memory of The Hon. Cordell Meeks, Jr., who had just been named chairman of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Board of Director’s when he passed away unexpectedly in June 2006. Judge Meeks, a district court judge and community leader in Wyandotte County, had served for nine years on the Children’s Mercy board and was a tireless advocate for children and families in our area.
