This unit provides coordination and assistance to physicians, managed care organizations and families referred to Children's Mercy Hospital for outpatient services. Our staff helps families obtain the appropriate authorization referral and/or number before outpatient services are provided, utilizing the guidelines established by managed care companies. The Outpatient Authorization Unit is a central collection area for all authorization information related to outpatient visits. Verbal and faxed authorizations are accepted.
