Overview
Welcome to the Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics (CMHC) information page for medical students. We provide the core pediatrics rotations for both the University of Missouri-School of Medicine and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. In addition, medical students from across the country come to Children's Mercy for elective rotations. It's a great way to get acquainted with our hospital, our faculty and a great group of residents.
CMHC is a regional, 300 plus bed tertiary referral center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center serving the Heart of America. We are the only free-standing children's hospital between St Louis to the east, Denver to the west, Omaha to the north and Little Rock to the south. CMHC is consistently recognized as one of the top children's hospitals in the United States. Our hospital benefits from the generous support of an extraordinary community. Together we have built a special hospital offering outstanding facilities that combine the latest in technology and patient care services with a beautiful family-friendly environment.
At CMHC you will be part of the entire world of children's health care. Our programs range from providing the finest primary care, injury prevention and advocacy to integrated pain management and minimally invasive surgery. Emergency and critical care services at CMHC are among the most renowned in the country. Our Intensive Care Nursery is a spacious Level IV unit offering state-of-the-art advanced newborn care.
Our new Pediatric Research Center is dedicated to the power of discovery. It provides the most technologically advanced facilities for research in genetics, diabetes, allergy/immunology, newborn lung disease, kidney disease and more. We are one of the premier Pharmacology Research Centers in the country performing pioneering research in pharmacogenomics and pharmacokinetics. Over the past 10 years CMHC researchers have continued to attract NIH dollars and move up in the rankings of children's hospitals receiving NIH funding.
