Welcome to the Hearing and Speech Clinic of Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. The Hearing and Speech Clinic is proud to be a part of one of the best pediatric hospitals in the nation by striving for excellence in education, patient care and research.

Why Choose Children's Mercy

The Hearing and Speech Clinic has a staff of qualified pediatric experts. The clinic is dedicated to giving its patients the best quality services possible by using the most current evidence-based practices and procedures, equipment and technology available. Parents and guardians are involved in every step of our services, and can observe evaluations and treatment with their children or through one-way mirrors.

All audiologists and speech-language pathologists have a master's degree, a doctorate or a Ph.D. in their respective fields. They hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in audiology or speech-language pathology, which is granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and are licensed to practice in Kansas, Missouri or both states.

Education is very important to staff of the Hearing and Speech Clinic. The clinic has graduate students, medical students and residents observe evaluations and therapies. It also educates physicians and other healthcare workers on hearing loss and communication disorders, gives lectures to medical and community groups, and holds classes at nearby graduate schools.

Mission

The mission of the Hearing and Speech Clinic is to provide extraordinary care for diagnostics, early intervention, collaboration, short-term treatment, teaching and research. Patients, families and staff are treated with compassion in a family-centered environment that recognizes physical, emotional, financial, social, spiritual, and cultural needs.
