Children's Mercy operates the only designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and the only burn unit devoted exclusively to pediatric patients between St. Louis and Denver. Our multidisciplinary teams offer a full continuum of burn and trauma services, encompassing everything from treatment upon initial injury to post-discharge follow-up. Our staff includes board- certified surgeons, a wide variety of specialists, subspecialists and ancillary services that are available 24 hours per day. Our mortality rate for pediatric trauma patients is below the national average.
