Welcome
The mission of the Division of Hematology/Oncology is to provide comprehensive care to children with cancer and blood disorders in a family-centered environment to promote optimal health and well-being.
The Division of Hematology/Oncology consists of the inpatient unit, outpatient clinic and office. There are nearly 200 employees in the division including physicians, fellows, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, social workers, staff nurses, care assistants, clinical research coordinators, administrative assistants and data managers. Additional support staff outside the division include child life, pharmacy, chaplaincy, psychology and music therapy. Close to 2000 children are seen each year within the division with diagnoses including cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders.
"Our group of experienced physicians has received national recognition in the areas of Sickle Cell, Hemophilia, and Oncology."
Each of the 16 board certified attending physicians in the division works with an advanced practice nurse (APN) or physician assistant and a social worker to provide comprehensive care to our patients and families. Once a patient is referred to the division, he/she is followed by the same physician, APN and social worker throughout the treatment.
