Training Opportunities

The fellow has the opportunity to spend time with the five full-time pediatric ophthalmologists and the many outside specialists who participate in clinic and surgical activities. Regularly scheduled journal conferences will be provided and research opportunities will be available.

Comprehensive Education

As Children's Mercy Hospital is the only tertiary pediatric hospital between St. Louis and Denver, it draws patients from a 135 county region. The fellow will be exposed to every aspect of the field with a large number of complex strabismus cases, cataracts and glaucoma. The fellow will be trained to screen for and treat retinopathy of prematurity, with the opportunity to examine up to 50 babies per week.
