Hospital Medicine Clinical Services
Hospital Medicine Clinical Services

One of the largest Hospitalist groups in the country, we primarily provide 24/7 coverage on 2 general inpatient services within the Mercy system. We operate at Children's Mercy Hospital in downtown Kansas City, MO and at Children's Mercy South in Overland Park, KS. In addition, we supervise and teach medical students and pediatric, and family medicine residents during inpatient rotations. We are Board Certified Pediatricians and clinical faculty affiliated with University of Missouri at Kansas City.

On both campuses, hospitalists manage illnesses that affect any body system and require general pediatric inpatient care outside the PICU.

When directly managing inpatients at Children's Mercy Hospital
Hospitalists accept any patient appropriate for admission to the general inpatient services without other selection criteria.

When directly managing inpatients at Children's Mercy South
Patients are selected based on the appropriateness of illness with regard to the ancillary service available at the location.

The pediatric hospitalists supervise traditional resident teaching services and a direct patient care service (Silver Team). All of these general pediatric services care for a wide array of pediatric diagnoses. Medical patients not followed exclusively in a subspecialty clinic are typically admitted to these services. When necessary, patients are managed in collaboration with one or more pediatric subspecialists. These general pediatric services are also available to coordinate care for the medically complex, potentially technology-dependent patients.
