Speech Pathology Pediatric Head Trauma or Neurological Injuries

Speech-Language pathologists are part of the Rehabilitation team. If your child is hospitalized for a head trauma or neurological injury, your physician may consult a speech-language pathologist (SLP) to evaluate your child. The SLP will perform a speech evaluation and may determine that your child needs speech therapy. Individual therapy sessions may be continued while your child is an inpatient at Children's Mercy. When your child is discharged, further recommendations will be discussed by the entire team.

The Kreamer Family Resource Center at CMH can help families with web-based resources about pediatric head trauma or neurological injuries.
