education should continue when a child leaves the hospital or
The staff relies on caregivers and parents in the community to
teach children about health and safety issues. To help these
caregivers, Children's Mercy has created a database of health
information called Children's Mercy Care Cards.
There are more than 300 care cards online. Each card is easy to
read and addresses a health topic, such as cuts and scrapes, fever,
head lice, sore throats and hearing loss. The cards are updated on
a regular basis and are used throughout the hospital (in both
inpatient and outpatient areas) and in the community.
The following is a list of care cards that may be helpful to the
families of children who visit the Hearing and Speech Clinic. Each
link opens a PDF file.
Children's Mercy is in the process of reformatting all of the care
cards and translating them into Spanish. Check back soon for links
to the Spanish versions of these care cards.
