The Audiology Program is part of the Hearing and
Speech Clinic at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.
Each year in the United States, approximately one of every
1,000 infants is born with severe-to-profound
permanent hearing loss and six in every 1,000 are born
with other degrees of hearing loss. Childhood hearing loss can
cause problems with a child's ability to communicate and learn.
