Abdominal Pain Program Clinical Program

The Abdominal Pain Clinic at Children's Mercy is designed to evaluate and treat children and adolescents with chronic and/or recurrent abdominal pain issues. Experts across multiple clinical specialties work together to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents with abdominal pain.

Initial Evaluation 

All new patients who have experienced pain longer than eight weeks are evaluated in the Abdominal Pain Clinic. Patients will undergo a complete examination and joint evaluation by a pediatric gastroenterologist and a pediatric psychologist to identify factors which may be contributing to his/her abdominal pain.

Follow Up

The first follow up visit typically is scheduled for 2-8 weeks after the initial evaluation. The exact timing of this visit may vary depending on how your child is progressing and responding to treatment.
