Abdominal Pain Program Clinical Program

The Abdominal Pain Clinic at Children's Mercy is designed to evaluate and treat children and adolescents with chronic and/or recurrent abdominal pain issues. Experts across multiple clinical specialties work together to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents with abdominal pain.

Diagnostic Clinic 

Patients who have had no previous treatment or diagnostic work-up are generally seen first in our Diagnostic Clinic where they are evaluated by a pediatric gastroenterologist or advanced practice provider specializing in abdominal pain.

Multidisciplinary Clinic

In the Multidisciplinary Clinic (MDC), your child will undergo joint evaluation by a pediatric gastroenterologist and a pediatric psychologist to identify biologic, psychologic, and social factors which may be contributing to his/her abdominal pain. A new MDC clinic evaluation often takes two hours or more to complete.
