Endocrinology and Diabetes Cystic Fibrosis/Endocrine Clinic

Under the direction of M. Max Felt, DO, the Cystic Fibrosis/Endocrine Clinic takes a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to endocrine-related disorders associated with cystic fibrosis. This includes children with cystic fibrosis who may have abnormal blood sugar, growth failure, or delay in puberty.

Held once every month, the clinic offers patients and families the opportunity and convenience to meet with the cystic fibrosis medical team, a pediatric endocrinologist, and a certified diabetic educator. We provide multi-disciplinary management of identified issues, screening for associated endocrine concerns and specific dietary and lifestyle recommendations for patients with cystic fibrosis-related diabetes.

Frequently treated diagnoses include:

  • Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes
  • Growth failure
  • Delayed pubertal development
  • Bone strength and density

An inpatient hospital service also provides endocrine-specific recommendation once weekly if a child with cystic fibrosis is hospitalized at Children's Mercy Hospital.
