Quality and Safety Mission and Goals
Quality and Safety Mission and Goals

Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics will provide the highest level of medical care, technology, services, equipment and facilities to promote the health and well-being of children in the region, from birth through adolescence.

Patients and families are treated with compassion in a family-centered environment that recognizes their physical, emotional, financial, social and spiritual needs.

It is imperative that everything done by each employee reinforces and enhances the hospital's mission and vision. People are the most important resource of this organization, so the involvement of every individual is critical to the success of the quality assessment, measurement and improvement effort.

The comprehensive health care environment provided by the hospital includes clinical services, research and teaching efforts designed to serve children and the community.

Department Philosophy

To help the hospital and staff meet the mission and vision of providing the highest quality care to children and families through process planning, evaluation, facilitation and improvement.

Safety Strategic Initiatives

We strive to provide outstanding care to all of our patients and their families. In order to focus our improvement efforts and maximize our ability to provide the highest level of care, we have defined the following four priority areas:

  • Improve access to primary and specialty services
  • Reduce healthcare-acquired infections
  • Provide the appropriate level of care to patients based on their acuity and illness
  • Enhance the patient experience
