Children's Mercy has an all-RN staff with a high
percentage of nurses certified in preoperative excellence (CNOR).
We work closely with the anesthesia department. Our instrumentation
and equipment are specific to the pediatric population, and our
nurses are skilled at caring for the pediatric surgical patient.
Staff work in both facilities and are therefore licensed in Kansas
and Missouri.
We have 16 operating rooms downtown and four
operating rooms at Children's Mercy South furnished with
monitoring, safety, emergency equipment and ante-rooms. Each
operating room is designed for a specific specialty (i.e.,
orthopedics, cardiac, general endoscopy).
Patients range in age from neonates to 21 years.
The regularly scheduled hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 5:30
p.m. Monday through Friday. Operating Room services are
available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. After-hour or emergency hours
are 5:30 p.m. - 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:30 p.m. Friday
to 7 a.m. Monday.
