The Administrative Fellowship Program at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is designed to provide an in-depth, hands-on experience for post-graduate individuals interested in an administrative career in pediatric health care.
Objectives

- To expose the fellow to executive leadership at all levels within the organization
- To provide the fellow with projects that are aligned with both the fellow's interests and career goals and the interests and needs of Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics
- To prepare the fellow for a leadership career in a pediatric health care facility
"Children's Mercy is a mission-driven organization that is wholly committed to meeting today's and tomorrow's pediatric health care needs both within the greater Kansas City region and beyond. To fulfill this commitment, Children's Mercy is a pediatric teaching hospital. As such, the Children's Mercy Administrative Fellowship Program is dedicated to training future health care leaders by providing first-hand exposure to all levels and aspects of health care administration, as Children's Mercy pursues its goal to be nothing less than the best children's hospital in the world."

"As Co-Chief Operating Officer, I am dedicated to making sure that our administrative fellows gain a comprehensive understanding of how decisions are made at the senior executive level. I invite the fellows to stop by my office to ask questions, talk about what they are observing and to even provide input as to how we can improve."
Jo Stueve Co-Chief Operating Officer Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics

"An administrative fellow's fresh perspective can serve as conscience to the hospital. We empower our fellows to learn about our programs and processes by raising vital questions that always bring real-life knowledge to the Fellow and often bring challenge to the status quo. When that happens, the administrative fellow serves as a true catalyst to innovation, contributing to his or her own professional growth and the hospital's well-being at the same time."
David Westbrook Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics

"I completed my administrative fellowship at Children's Mercy 12 years ago and have remained a part of the organization since that time. Having provided a fantastic foundation on which I have been able to build my career, my fellowship allowed me to gain greater understanding of all facets of the health care delivery system and, as a result, achieve an executive role with the organization."
Laurisa Jackson Vice President of Finance Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics

"Children's Mercy takes pride in providing a valuable fellowship experience upon which the administrative fellow can excel professionally within health care administration. As preceptor for the fellowship program, my responsibilities include serving as a mentor and ensuring that the fellow has resources and access to leadership across all levels of hospital management, clinical care and operations. My goal is for the fellow to have a meaningful post-graduate learning experience and cultivate relationships that can expand beyond his/her career."
Marshaun Butler, MHSA Vice President Children's Mercy South and Regional Medical Practices
