The epidemic of childhood obesity has exploded the past three decades. It's the number one health problem facing our children today, with adverse and potentially long-lasting consequences for individuals, families and communities.
Weighing In on Childhood Obesity
Teaching children about healthy eating and active lifestyles is key to ending this epidemic, but unfortunately conditions in the Kansas City area continue to act as barriers to accomplishing these goals. The good news is that we have much more knowledge today than ever before on how to prevent and control childhood obesity, and we have more than 90 community partners who have joined together to weigh in on actions that will help Kansas City's children and families.
And we invite you to join us!
Who We Are
Our program includes individuals and organizations such as health care institutions, schools and universities, public health agencies, YMCAs, the news media, health plans and a wide array of community-service organizations, all committed to working together to end childhood obesity in Kansas City. Weighing In is headquartered at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, in partnership with Mother & Child Health Coalition.
Take a few minutes to sign on as one of the growing number of individuals and organizations in the Kansas City metro area that are impacting our children in positive ways to prevent childhood obesity.
Participation is free and can range from taking an active role in a collaborative initiative that sparks your interest to simply staying up-to-date on what is going on in the childhood obesity-prevention arena.
