to incorporate the perspectives of our patients, families and

Family Advisory Board
The Family Advisory Board focuses on promoting relationships
between family members and professionals to ensure the
highest-quality care is being provided. FAB serves as the umbrella group for the other Patient Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) at Children’s Mercy.
Cystic Fibrosis Patient Family Advisory Council
The CF PFAC works in partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic to advocate on behalf of parents and patients for the best quality of care. The council serves as a resource for parents to further influence policies and procedures, enhance communication, and expand education for patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Food Allergy Patient Family Advisory Council
The Food Allergy PFAC works in partnership with the Food Allergy Center to advocate on behalf of parents and patients for the best quality of care. The council serves as a resource for parents to further influence policies and procedures, enhance communication, and expand education about food allergies.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patient Family Advisory Council
The IBD PFAC partners together to create the highest level of multidisciplinary, collaborative care, focusing on the whole child and their families. Their focus is to offer insight and collaboration as partners and to represent families living with IBD.
Teen Advisory Board
The Teen Advisory Board is a group of young adults who have
experiences with clinical diagnoses and provide education and
support to Children's Mercy patients, family and staff.
ICN (NICU) Family Staff Advisory Council
The ICN (NICU) Family Staff Advisory Council serves to enhance family-centered care in the Intensive Care Nursery by identifying education, supportive programming, and creative activities for development and unit implementation; and provides the perspective of families and the community into the care experience. Hem-Onc Teen Board
The Hem-Onc Teen Board was started in 2013 as part of the Hem/Onc Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Program with the goal of improving care and support for our AYA patients receiving treatment for cancer or blood disorders.
